Colorado’s school resource officer (SRO) law fails to align SRO’s law enforcement objectives with their educational setting. Indeed, Colorado law encourages a blended, part law enforcement, part educator role for SROs, but by failing to mandate specific memoranda of understanding (MOUs) or place school resource officers under school authority, Colorado law allows SROs’ law enforcement role to dominate their educator role.
